Villa Mon Repos History
The town of Abruzzo Pescasseroli is known for having given birth to one of the greatest Italian philosophers of the twentieth century: Benedetto Croce. The history of Villa Mon Repos is linked to this illustrious personage. The commendatore Francesco Sipari and his brother Erminio, respectively owner and author of the project of the villa, were in fact the maternal uncles and, as such, often hosted the philosopher among these walls. In reality, even though they dedicated great interest and attention to its construction, the Sipari lived this dwelling for a very short time.
Probably as a "reproduction" of a much larger family summer residence, located on the Ligurian coast, already in the fifties it remained uninhabited and left to the negligence of time. Only from the early nineties, an accurate restoration and philological research of materials, lines and colors has allowed this structure to return to its original splendor. Even the garden, full of ancient trees, has been restored according to the taste of the time.
Mosaic marble floors, Persian rugs, liberty crystal chandeliers, Tiffany stained glass windows of precious craftsmanship, deco style bathrooms, boiserie and curtains of refined refinement: nothing has been left to chance by the designer and co-director Liberata Berardini, who has known to combine comfort and respect for and pre-existing structures.
The rooms have a private bathroom, some have a mezzanine or a fireplace. The entertainment and breakfast rooms offer cozy and cozy settings, as well as the restaurant, which seats forty people. Among the proposals of regional cuisine, accompanied by the best local labels, there are some original variations of the chef.
