The Castle of San Gaudenzio is one of the many fortresses that the noble family of the Visconti had erected in the land of Lombardy and, among these, one of the best preserved. Built in the fifteenth century, it also belonged to other important Lombard patrician families - the Beccaria, the Taverna, the Radice - which, making it a gathering place for parties, dinners and fabulous dances contributed to the enrichment of the artistic and architectural heritage of the complex almost intact to the present day.
This is "an oasis of Lombard history", where one can understand how one should live in the sumptuous Renaissance courts. Small and choreographic labyrinths of box hedges - just a glimpse of the large park of ancient trees that surrounds the castle - meander past the entrance to the building, open on two floors by elegant windows. Inside there are environments where it is pleasant to slip the time, according to the spirit of the Latin otium: forty-five rooms and suites all different for decorations and furnishings, partly vintage, and again, dining rooms and lounges in the Empire style or Renaissance with red or black marble fireplaces, period furniture and paintings and furnishings ranging from the sixteenth to the seventeenth century.
The service is always impeccable and polite, even at the restaurant, where the Lombard cuisine gives way to the chef's free inspiration, inspired by the international repertoire. Where once the horses of the Visconti used to stand, ie in the former stables, today there is a beautiful indoor pool with solarium. In addition to the impressive Caryatid room, suitable for banquets and dinners of gay, the hotel has more rooms for meetings and business meetings.
