Palazzo La Loggia History
On the slopes of the Gran Sasso National Park, there is this ancient palace dating back to the XIII century. Overlooking a beautiful garden on the square of the medieval village of Barisciano, Palazzo la Loggia has been able to preserve in an excellent way the characteristics and atmosphere of the past.
Barisciano's main characteristic, besides belonging to the magnificent area of the Gran Sasso Park, is to be in a strategic position a few kilometers from L'Aquila, the Stiffe Caves and other charming villages such as Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Rocca Calascio , Piana di Campo and Castel del Monte.
The building presents the typical structures of the noble residences of the period going from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century: of particular importance is the Loggia located on the main floor, with round-arched stone arches. On the ground floor there are stone foundations. The structure is accessed through a stone portal dating back to 1789 that leads to the large courtyard in front.
After a meticulous restoration that lasted four years, today guests can enjoy a small oasis where they can relax and appreciate the beauty of a late Renaissance home and relive the atmosphere of times gone by. At the Palace is in fact the B & B Piccolo Mondo Antico, with 3 double rooms furnished in the style of the time with great detail. Terracotta floors, hand-painted Vietri ceramics and precious fabrics combine with the most modern comforts to offer guests the warmest welcome. For moments of relaxation, a garden is available next to the building.
