The Castel di Salve winery was founded in 1885, and is now followed by the descendant of the founder's own family. Castel di Salve creates wines with a strong personality by dedicating almost obsessive attention to the grape varieties, in the continuous search for a non-trivial and non-stardardized taste.
Castel di Salve History
The Castel di Salve winery was founded in 1922 by the hand of Francesco Marra and Francesco Winspeare, with 40 hectares of land.
The winery is in Depressa, in this ancient winery which has been closed and abandoned for many years. It was built at the end of the 19th century, with vaults in Lecce stone.
The first wine to be bottled and labeled was Armecolo, followed by three labels up to the present day, with ten labels and one hundred and eighty thousand bottles produced, always following a path in balance between innovation and respect for the territory.
The owners have selected old vineyards with great potential, all native grapes of Salento: Negroamaro, Primitivo and Malvasia Nera di Lecce.
