La Piana dei Mulini History
La Piana dei Molini in Molise, not far from Boiano, is a historic dwelling that extends like a small village on over 80 linear meters.
A first nucleus was built at the end of 1700 as a water mill with adjoining masseria and housed a wool processing center as it was located on the "Strada della Transumanza" route. From the beginning of the twentieth century until the 60s it was a hydroelectric plant, then abandoned.
Today, following a wise work of conservative recovery, it is a historical and cultural heritage placed under the high surveillance of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
The seventeenth-century structure of the Piana dei Mulini, built entirely of stone, has been renovated and classified with the reception mode that goes by the name of "Albergo Diffuso", where the family welcome in comfortable rooms joins a project promotion of the territory that aims to enhance its resources and typicality.
The seven rooms with a rustic atmosphere, some of them right on the mill, have been entirely recovered using mainly original materials thanks to the careful work of local artisans and craftsmen.
Outside paths and footbridges offer access to the lush area of the Biferno River Park.
The restaurant service can be carried out in different environments, each with its own history and characteristics: the Great Hall, ideal for receptions and banquets; the Saletta, a small jewel of refinement with its 60 seats; the Court, a cozy and intimate place framed by roses and lavender flowers; il Portico, location for outdoor receptions that lends itself well to elegant buffets and aperitifs.
The kitchen, simple and tasty, offers genuine products with authentic flavors enhancing the tradition and the ancient flavors of Molise.
