Its history begins at the dawn of the last century when, just on January 1, 1901, in a beautiful view on the stretch of coast that goes from Rapallo to Portofino, Kursaal Rapallo opened its doors. Built in the spot where Villa Elisabetta stood in 1865, it immediately became a reference for the beautiful world that, from all over Europe, poured on the Riviera attracted by the mild climate and the calls of the green tables. In order to offer adequate accommodation to such a large and loyal clientele, adequate accommodation soon became necessary. Designed by the Swiss architect Verrey and under the direction of the engineer Enrico Machiavello, the New Casino Hotel was built in the immediate vicinity, an elegant hotel directly connected to the gambling house. The hotel, then called Excelsior Palace Hotel, immediately became one of the most exclusive of the coast, with its luxurious complex annexed to a beach resort overlooking the sea.

The Eden Roc Lounge & Restaurant is the hotel's summer restaurant, open from lunchtime until midnight, offering light and refined dishes, aperitifs and cocktails after dinner.
