Palazzo Niccolini al Duomo History
Palazzo Niccolini al Duomo is located in the heart of the historic center of Florence, a few steps from the Brunelleschi's Dome, the downtown streets and the shopping area as well as the main monuments and museums.
A small jewel of a few rooms, built in the area where their laboratories had important artists such as Michelozzo Michelozzi and Donatello, dome shows the bust with plaque memorial of the master placed on the facade of the building. The Palace, recently restored, was erected by the Naldini family, among whose ranks were many merchants, bankers and soldiers. In 1532 Giovanni Naldini began to purchase the houses present in the area, starting to bring them together into a single complex, laying the foundations of the future building. Between 1725 and 1732, Ottaviano Naldini commissioned the architect Pier Paolo Giovannozzi to give the building the appearance that has come down to the present day. Following the marriage between Cristina Naldini and the Marquis Eugenio Niccolini di Camugliano in 1879, the building became the property of the Niccolini family, who has lived there for four generations.
Today guests can relax in charming surroundings, without giving up modern comforts, in large spaces with decorated ceilings, precious frescoes and furnishings of great value, welcomed in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
