Relais Sant'Uffizio

The Congregation of the sacred Roman and universal Inquisition or Holy Office was a structure of the Catholic Church created in 1542 by Pope Paul III with the bull Licet ab initio. It corresponds to the old Inquisition and is now called the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

An ancient residence, in the heart of Monferrato, surrounded by well-kept vineyards and pretty red brick villages, surrounded by greenery and contemplative silences. Places that evoke atmospheres of the 16th century, when the Locanda was a monastic seat. At the time it was a farm of the Inquisition court, seat of the Dominican Inquisitor of Casale, directly dependent on the Church of Rome.

Here the Dominican friars, defenders of the harsh rules of the ecclesiastical court, raised silkworms in the attics and produced good wine for Mass. So good as to arouse the envy of the Franciscan Friars, who held three convents in nearby Moncalvo.

After a skilful restoration work completed in 2015, Relais Sant'Uffizio is today a luxury and charming residence that retains its timeless charm. A refined property, enriched by splendid decorations and frescoes, with large rooms capable of hosting receptions of up to 200 people or more intimate ceremonies, placing different settings at your disposal within the same structure: the aperitif in the shade of the wisteria, dinner in the refined Glicine room up to the cutting of the cake in the gardens.

An author's cuisine, innovative but at the same time inspired by tradition, which enhances the delicacies of the area by placing the spotlight on the precious truffles of the area and the selected local products.
