The Castle of Cortanze dominates the village lined up on the crest of a hill in the splendid landscape of Asti. Dating back to the 10th century, it has been restored from its current property to be transformed into an accommodation facility.
Castello di Cortanze History
The origins of the castle date back to the 10th century, when it was still "Curtis Anseris", an inhabited village derived from a landed property of Lombard-Frankish origin. Over time, the building has undergone several changes of ownership: from the bishop of Asti to the Roero family, who maintained ownership until the end of the nineteenth century. The whole complex is surrounded by a park, which is accessed through a ramp and a Baroque gate; past the garden, dominated by the keep, you climb the ramparts that overlook the hills on one side and the internal courtyard on the other.
The castle boasts an enchanting main room that serves as a restaurant, with a capacity of 220 seats, ideal for events and receptions with numerous guests. This room represents a truly unique space, characterized by five cross vaults with painted inserts in sandstone. In addition, Castello di Cortanze boasts an outdoor garden and the noble halls of the manor where you can set up an aperitif. On the upper floor of the structure there is the ballroom to host the party that will follow the reception and the cutting of the cake. The castle has, inside one of the two towers, an elegant suite, with the possibility of staying overnight for the wedding night. The suite is arranged over two floors which give access to the panoramic terrace at the top of the tower. In addition, it has solutions for overnight stays for guests: standard rooms for two to four beds, complete with all comforts for refined and timeless hospitality.
The restaurant specializes in the creation of typical Piedmontese dishes, with traditional flavors combined with more delicate flavors, accompanied by a rich selection of wines.
