The Schloss Heroldeck is located on wooded northern slopes and overlooks the Millstattersee.The complex is located less than 8 kilometers from the A10 motorway that connects Salzburg and Villach. The interior has been adapted for use as a small conference center and includes both dormitory accommodation and a separate pension for couples or families. The almost idyllic setting of lakes and alpine mountains is the ideal place for a retreat or spiritual study.
Schloss Heroldeck History
The Schloss Heroldeck is a charming private castle hidden on the slopes of Austrian Lake Millstatt. Since the purchase by the Calvary Chapel in 1988, the castle has been influenced over the years by various leaders with different gifts and different dynamics of ministry. Needless to say, it has always been a very special place, regardless of the time or the occasion. As the movement of the Calvary Chapel in Europe grew, the castle became a very strategic retreat for many. Pastors in Europe have also used this breathtaking place to bring their people year after year and let them hear some heartfelt teachings from pastors around the world. Over time, the castle became a hub for American churches that had to come and minister and see for themselves what God was doing in Europe, while for others it was a springboard to push new teams into other regions.
Currently, the Schloss is a private home owned by the Calvary Chapel and run by volunteers. By invitation we can accommodate around 100 people for a retreat or a conference. The structure includes the Schloss Heroldeck ("the Castle") and the second property, "La Villa", located 50 m from the driveway of the main building.
In the main building there are 3 dormitory-style rooms with shared bathrooms that can accommodate up to 30 people. There are 4 family or multiple rooms with private bathrooms, and there is also a guest room with a private bathroom which is a comfortable size for a couple.
The Villa has 12 rooms with private bathroom or shower and another 5 share 2 common bathrooms. All the rooms of the Villa are equipped with sinks. The rooms vary in size from double to family and most are flexible to accommodate couples, families or a "dorm" environment. In total the structure can accommodate up to 100 adults depending on the use of the room.
Even during the summer season, some rooms may not be available due to other commitments. For groups of over 40 adults, we guarantee that the main facilities will be available to the group and not shared with other groups
