Splendid example of Palladian architecture, Villa Canal in Grumolo delle Abbadesse, a few steps from Vicenza, is one of the most exclusive locations in the area. Villa Canal History
Immersed in the green of the Venetian plain, in Grumolo delle Abbadesse, Villa Canal is a historic residence of prestigious beauty, superbly recomposed in its sober elegance.
Designed in the 16th century on behalf of the noble Venetian family Badoer - Canal as a summer residence, it is heavily influenced by the Palladian influence. The distribution of the rooms is in fact the one made canon by Palladio in the Venetian villas, with a large median hall in the two floors and four rooms on its sides.
The main body, developed on a rectangular plan, is embraced on the right by an arched portico and on the left by a Tuscan portico; the arcade of the stables and the raised loggia were refitted in more recent times.
Outside there is a beautiful park with the classic geometries of the Italian garden, paths, box hedges and classical statues, ideal for hosting buffets and aperitifs in an atmosphere that make you go back in time, while inside sumptuous rooms frescoes and furnished with antique furniture are the perfect setting for civil ceremonies or for an elegant winter aperitif.
The side loggia offers itself as a location for the wedding banquet, with its cool shelter and the direct view of the park: a large space that can be prepared either with the classic round tables or with an imperial table with a centerpiece that crosses the entire length, composed of crystal candelabras, glass vases and bouquets of fresh flowers, roses, freesias and peonies.
