Faro di Capo Spartivento

The Lighthouse of Capo Spartivento is located in the municipality of Domus de Maria, in the province of Cagliari, on a promontory of granite origin covered with Mediterranean vegetation and is among the oldest lighthouses in Sardinia still in operation. Built in 1854 by the Italian Navy, it was one of the twenty lighthouses wanted by Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoia, whose initials still stand out in the frieze above the entrance door. During the Second World War it was machine-gunned by military aircraft and underwent a first restoration at the end of the conflict, and then hosted the family of farists until the '80s, when the automation made unnecessary changes of guard. After a period of oblivion that lasted over 30 years, in 2006 the second life of the Lighthouse began, opening up to hospitality: long and careful restoration work, have transformed the intended use of the building while respecting materials, furnishings, style and historical memory of a place that belongs to the community.

It is composed of a building 19 meters high, above which stands the structure of the lighthouse covered by the Faraday cage, which can be reached by taking a short path that leads from the Chia beach to the garden and to the cliffs that surround the lighthouse. On the ground floor there are the large rooms that house the refined living rooms in a minimalist style, the dining room and access to the ancient underground cistern, transformed into a cellar. The first floor, accessible by a stone spiral staircase, houses an exclusive tea room with fireplace, while on the second floor a 250 sqm terrace with canopy beds offers breathtaking views of the blue sea and the green of the hill .

The four suites, overlooking the sea or overlooking the hill, are furnished with care and equipped with the most modern comforts, with large windows to illuminate the spaces; two other mini-apartments have been created from the buildings that once served as gas tanks, offering a surface of 50sqm developed on two floors, with the living area on the ground floor and the sleeping area on the first floor where a glass window allows to admire the stars.
