Residenza San Girolamo History
Surrounded by the silence and greenery of a centuries-old oak forest, within the Sasso Simone and Simoncello nature park, the Residenza San Girolamo near Fortino is housed in an ancient monastery. Founded in 1503 by Don Ghisello Vandino under concession of the Bishop of Montefeltro, thanks to a skilful restoration by the Superintendent of Cultural Heritage, it is today one of the jewels of the region, ready to welcome its guests in a unique atmosphere where the holiday is also opportunity to rediscover physical and inner well-being.
The Residenza San Girolamo preserves intact the original architectural beauty, you can stay in modern rooms, with simple finishes, in ancient rooms where they find terracotta floors, exposed beams and original details or try the suggestion of an ancient cell of the friars; among the latter, the most particular are those of the Prior, with a domed ceiling designed to promote the circulation of hot air and the room that had formerly contained the herbalist, where a large fireplace dating back to the sixteenth century shows off. In all cases the accommodation will be quiet and peaceful, in perfect harmony with the purpose for which this place was born, peace of mind and spirit.
On the ground floor, in addition to the cloister where there is a cycle of frescoes, has been restored the ancient refectory decorated with frescoes of the Last Supper and San Girolamo devoted to reading.
Hospitality and warmth welcome transform every stay into an unforgettable experience without forgetting good food: the Residenza boasts a high quality Hostaria, where the dishes are those of the Marche and Romagna tradition: fresh raw materials and genuine products are the basis of a kitchen revisited with creativity and taste. In the Workshop of the Hostaria it will then be possible to buy cheeses, cured meats, bread cooked in wood and extra virgin olive oil carefully selected from the best local and national producers; there are also jams and a great variety of wines.
The Residenza San Girolamo then offers itself as a perfect setting for organizing meetings, conferences, workshops and training courses, thanks to the wide availability of spaces both inside, with the Sala del Cenacolo able to accommodate up to 50 people, and outside, surrounded from a unique setting.
